The process of developing proper habits requires you to train your fingers periodically and to be patient. You should first focus foremost on accuracy, ergonomics, and high typing speed will come with time. Not to overwork yourself. Remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint, it is better to take ten minutes exercises daily than a single one hour run.

How is the text of this test constructed?
Using AI, we analyzed 1000 most common English books. The AI produced a statistical tree of most connected word chains. The output text is trying to mimic real sentences with the most used word connections, which gives more accurate results. However, it cannot be exactly grammatically correct as it relies on machine learning.

Why do I need to see Ads?
We want to make this typing test free. Our idea is to keep a significant portion of our typing software free of charge so everybody can work on improving typing skills, but still, we need to pay our bills. The WPM stands for words per minute, and it is a measure of typing speed, commonly used in the recruitment process and typing speed tests. It is standardized to five characters or keystrokes. The benefits of a standardized measurement of input speed are that it enables comparison across language. Make sure you start your touch typing with high accuracy. Your speed will grow over time.

Character Per Minute (CPM)
The CPM stands for characters per minute. So CPM is WPM divided by 5. Sometimes people use a keystroke as an equivalent, but it is not the same thing. Keystroke is the single hit on the keyboard. So for the capital letter “A”, which is a single character, we count two keystrokes. (SHIFT + a)

How do we measure
a typing speed?
We measure your typing speed in WPM (words per minute). It is a calculation of how fast you type words with no typos. We mean by the «word» an average of 5 characters including spaces. We measure gross speed in our typing test.

However, we don’t allow you to continue typing if you have a typo in your test. You have to fix it to proceed with the WPM test.

How fast can you type?
With our typing speed test you can easily determine your current typing speed online and free of charge. As a registered user you can even compare your typing test results with others and see how much potential you have left.

Why do I need a typing speed test?
Simply put: Our typing test helps you to better assess your current abilities and gives you the opportunity to compare your typing speed at different times. This is the basic prerequisite to to tap your full potential and see how much time you should invest in your daily typing practice.

For example, it is recommended to test your typing speed before you switch to the 10 finger typing technique and begin practicing. This allows you to do more typing tests with all 10 fingers later and compare your progress in the 10 finger system to your old typing technique.

Unlike our typing practice there is no aids like the virtual keyboard and settings are limited in our typing test. It only serves to find out how fast you can type. It is also entirely up to you which typing technique you use.
